Famous Quotes

"You know, Bush is allways comparing me with Elvis in sort of unflattering ways. I don't think Bush would have liked Elvis very much, and that's just another thing that's wrong with him".
- Bill Clinton,1992

Elvis Radio 2 Advert
A television promotional film showing Elvis Presley on stage with the likes of Stevie Wonder and The Who's Keith Moon has become a surprise internet hit.  The clip, produced for the BBC to promote Radio 2, seamlessly merges concert footage of Elvis with shots of other pop stars past and present to create the ultimate band.
The clip has been posted on the Graceland website and appears five times on the video-sharing site YouTube, where it has been watched more than 50,000 times.

Elvis introduces his band of Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Page, Noel Gallagher, Keith Moon, Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder, with the Sugababes as backing singers.

Apart from the Sugababes, all the footage is taken from music DVDs, YouTube and the BBC's own library.

A team of 25 people worked on merging the clips into film of Elvis's Aloha From Hawaii concert. The tagline is "What an amazing line-up, all day every day" - a reference to the playlist of Radio 2.

The station's head of marketing, Rochelle Fox, said: "We've had a fantastic response from all over the world. We've had people emailing and asking when it will next be on so they can watch it, which is quite unusual for a promotional trailer.

"It's not shocking or salacious but it's really heartwarming. I hope people will look at it and realise that the station is not just for their dads."

The film was developed by creative directors Brendan Wilkins and Rodney Kavanagh at advertising agency DFGW.

It uses the voiceover talents of Tim Whitnell, an Elvis impersonator who also provides one of the Teletubbies' voices.

Mr Wilkins said: "We have been absolutely astounded by the reaction. We were given the brief to come up with an ad which reflected the diversity of Radio 2's music.

"We thought of creating a super-band and then I remembered the DVD I had of Elvis introducing his band in Aloha, so we went through our iPods and came up with some of our favourite artists."

The clips used include Marvin Gaye Live In Montreux 1980, Noel Gallagher from The Who And Friends Live At The Royal Albert Hall 2001, Sheryl Crow filmed at The Grammys in 2003 and Stevie Wonder from a 1972 episode of Sesame Street.
